The hottest coalition of Nigerian DJs around the world, Nigerian DJs, celebrates its third year on August 11, 2009 as preachers behind the turntables and microphone. For the past 3 years, Nigerian DJs also known as Naija DJs have connected the world with Nigerian music through events, workshops, radio programs, mix-tapes and seminars.
With 90 members spanning several regions of the world, Nigerian DJs continues to fulfill its purpose and promote Nigerian music. Chapters have emerged under the Nigerian DJs umbrella such as the Nigerian DJs UK chapter formed on April 9th, 2008.
To fulfill the goal of the coalition, several events have emerged since the coalition started. Perhaps, the most widely known one which marked its third year is the Nigerian DJs’ Summer Jam, formerly known as the Nigerian DJs’ Conference. This event initially started as a party in Maryland in 2006 but has since evolved into a meeting place for members of the coalition, artists and fans to celebrate the Nigerian culture through music and consists of a welcome party, a picnic and the official summer jam. The summer jam has attracted many upcoming artists who have employed this medium as a networking opportunity, talent showcase and publicity platform to get their music to the world through the DJs. Several established artists such as Eldee the Don and Kelly Hansome have graced the stage at this summer event during the past three years.
Another event held is the Classic DJs hosted by DJ Humility in the motherland. This event has been held yearly since 2007 and like the summer jam, provides a meeting place for the members of the coalition based in Nigeria.
Members of the coalition have provided their services to major events such as the Nigerian reunion as well as non-major ones such as parties, weddings etc. While no main event is planned to commemorate this anniversary, the coalition will be releasing a mixtape at a later date to the public to celebrate this milestone.
For those interested in becoming a member of the hottest coalition of Nigerian DJs, membership to the hottest coalition of Nigerian DJs is based on referral besides the normal application procedures.
