With his most recent release it’s still difficult to understand why the first name out of all our mouths isn’t Mr. Capable himself… Yes i said it, the first name out of our mouths should be Banky W… when we’re talking about top talents in Naija/African music… I am not knocking other talents like D’banj, 2 baba, P-Square etc in anyway at all, I just believe Banky has gone from just paying dues to now actually being one of the best talents we have in Naija entertainment…
Not only is he able to keep Nigerian R&B very relevant almost solely, but he is able to put out hits that get played as much as any other dance or party jam on the radio… The man does a clear soprano, good falsetto, nice short raps and his lyrics are great… And his voice is a powerful one… tell me that ain’t talent…
In his new album “The W experience” Banky is all kinds of diverse with his record… from tracks like “Strong Ting” where he performed a smooth sailing song with ethnic (pidgin) lyrics to die for, to tracks like “Thief my kele” featuring Eldee’s road dog and tha Trybe’s own Oladele who murdered the record through and through and also features Wajie who is slowly becoming a household name as well, or should we even mention my personal favorite: “Feeling it” featuring the now BET nominated rapper Mr. Incredible himself, M.I?!?! the song is bananas… And let’s not even mention the party banger “Lagos Party”… The video for that one is the best video i have seen in a while… THE WHOLE ALBUM IS FRIGGIN BANANAS!!!
over the few years he’s been here he’s held his own… from the days of his “regret” to the days of “Majekodunmi” and “Ebute meta” to the days of… heck, his whole album… Afrogist is putting it out there, He ain’t no joke!!!
The man deserves our audience and his talent demands our utmost respect!!! if you don’t believe me, cop that album or just google the man men!!! We at Afrogist can’t wait to get Banky W on our shows or in an interview to ask him a few things and even explore him deeper…
