ANNOUNCES ITS NOMINEES FOR THE 2010 NEA AWARDS

SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th 5:30PM AT THE
BMCC TRIBECA PERFORMING ART CENTER, NEW YORK

NEW YORK, NY– (July 8, 2010) – The Producers of the NEA Awards are pleased to announce the Nominees for the Fifth Annual NEA Awards scheduled for Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at 5:30pm at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Art Center. This year’s nomination list is considered the most intriguing in the history of the show. The producers of the show also expanded this years’ category list to include non-traditional entertainment segments like Radio and TV personalities, Reality shows and Fashion. The producers of the show recognize the continued popularity and successes of these segments and want to make sure that these groups are recognized as part of the Nigeria Entertainment community.

Meet Eric Obuh (aka Vocal Slender) is an aspiring rap artist from Lagos, Nigeria who’s day job is to scavenge for scrap metal at a Dump.

With almost 16 million inhabitants Lagos is the second most populous city in Africa, and every day more people arrive in search of a better life (it is the seventh fastest growing city in the world). While Lagos may be Nigeria’s most prosperous city, it is a city of vast contrasts.  In areas such as Victoria Island you can find glitzy shopping centres, expensive residential properties, beach resorts, luxury hotels, banks, swanky nightclubs and so on.  The three-part BBC documentary Welcome To Lagos, produced by KEO Films, shed light on the other side of this megacity, including places such as Olusosun, a rubbish dump where about 1000 scavengers work and live. DK is in Lagos now ready to promote forthcoming single and video “Waa Last”

dkwaalastbybrianwould1Nigerian-born and London-based singer/songwriter DK (aka Don Kolionny) has just arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, where he will spending the next couple of months to promote his new single “Waa Last”, which was produced  by Skillz of the mighty Big Boyz Entertainment (aka JJC) who also directed the soon-to-be-launched video.  DK has already being hailed as the “African Ne-Yo” and “Waa Last” is an infectious Afrocentric love song in which he declares his never-ending love to the girl of his dream.

The debut single and video by hot, new African R’n’B talent DK was called “Shake”, a feel-good party song which invites the ladies to dance and party with DK - and of course to shake to his infectious flow.  (more…)
